Non-invasive ultrasonic flow meter is a flowmeter that uses non-contact measurement technology. Its characteristics
and applications can be summarized as follows:
1. Working principle
Non-invasive ultrasonic flowmeter uses the frequency shift (Doppler effect) caused by the flow of fluid when the ultrasonic
signal propagates in the fluid to complete the flow measurement. It does not need to enter the inside of the pipeline, avoiding
interference and pollution to the fluid inside the pipeline.
2. Main features
Non-invasive measurement: It does not need to enter the inside of the pipeline, which reduces the interference and pollution
to the fluid inside the pipeline, and also avoids energy loss and the generation of dynamic pressure head.
High-precision measurement: The use of advanced digital processing technology can achieve high-precision measurement,
usually reaching an accuracy of 0.5% to 1%.
Fast response: It has a fast response speed to instantaneous flow and flow changes, and can reflect the fluid state in real time.
No maintenance required: Since there are no moving parts, the ultrasonic sensor is fixed on the pipeline, not easy to wear, and
does not require regular maintenance.
3. Application field
Non-invasive ultrasonic flowmeters are widely used in industries such as petroleum, chemical, electric power, and sewage
treatment, including but not limited to:
Environmental protection: Municipal sewage measurement.
Oilfield: raw flow measurement, cementing mud flow measurement, oilfield oily wastewater flow measurement, etc.
Water company: raw water measurement in rivers, reservoirs, tap water flow measurement, etc.
Petrochemical: petrochemical product process flow detection, industrial circulating water flow measurement, etc.
Power plant, thermal power plant: water consumption measurement in production process, cooling circulating water flow
measurement, etc.
4. Technical parameters
Measurement range: large flow range, usually covering flow from very low to very high.
Temperature range: can measure the volume and mass flow of saturated steam and superheated steam up to 180°C
(extended temperature up to 450°C).
Sensor installation: can be completely insulated to reduce heat loss.
5. Advantages
Convenience: small size, light weight, only need to install the sensor on the outer wall of the pipe to complete the
flow measurement.
Good stability: has the characteristics of low zero drift, high anti-interference, etc.
