Thermal mass flowmeter is a commonly used flow measurement device and is widely used in industrial fields. It determines the mass flow rate
of a fluid by measuring the way the fluid conducts heat. Today winny will introduce the working principle of thermal mass flow meter as well
as its characteristics and applications.
The operating principle of thermal mass flow meters is based on the law of heat transfer, which states that heat transfer is proportional to
fluid velocity. The device usually consists of two sensors, one acting as a heat source and the other measuring temperature changes in the fluid.
When the fluid passes through the flowmeter, the heat source heats the fluid and maintains a certain temperature difference, while the
measurement sensor measures the temperature change of the fluid.
When a fluid passes through a thermal mass flowmeter, the velocity and mass flow rate of the fluid will affect the temperature change of the
measuring sensor. When the fluid velocity increases, the effect of the fluid taking away the heat source is enhanced, resulting in a decrease in
the temperature change of the measurement sensor. On the contrary, when the fluid velocity decreases, the temperature change of the
measuring sensor increases. By measuring the temperature change of the sensor, the mass flow rate of the fluid can be calculated.
Thermal mass flow meters have some distinctive features. First, it can measure many types of fluids. Secondly, it is insensitive to changes in the
physical properties of the fluid, such as changes in density, pressure and temperature. This enables the thermal mass flowmeter to provide
accurate flow measurement results under different operating conditions. In addition, it has high response speed and low pressure loss, making
it suitable for high-precision and high-speed flow measurement.
To sum up, the thermal mass flow meter is an important flow measurement device that determines the mass flow rate of the fluid by
measuring the conductive heat of the fluid.
