Types and characteristics of water level sensors
Water level sensors are devices used to measure and monitor water level height. Common water level sensors have the following types
and characteristics:
1. Contact level sensor
Float level sensor
Principle: Using the principle of buoyancy, the float rises and falls with the liquid level, and the liquid level change is converted into an
electrical signal output through mechanical or magnetic coupling.
Features: Simple structure, low price, suitable for most liquid media.
Static pressure level sensor
Principle: Based on the principle that the static pressure of the liquid is proportional to the liquid level height, the liquid level height is
calculated by measuring the pressure of the liquid on the bottom of the sensor.
Features: Accurate measurement, suitable for corrosive, viscous liquids and high pressure and high temperature environments.
Resistive level sensor
Principle: Reflect the liquid level height by measuring the change in the resistance value of the resistor element immersed in the liquid.
Features: Low cost, but easily affected by the conductivity of the liquid, suitable for non-conductive or low-conductive liquids.
Capacitive level sensor
Principle: Use the capacitance change formed by the sensor and the liquid to measure the liquid level.
Features: non-contact measurement, suitable for a variety of liquids, and not affected by the conductivity of the liquid.
2. Non-contact liquid level sensor
Ultrasonic liquid level sensor
Principle: measure the liquid level by emitting ultrasonic waves and receiving their echoes.
Features: non-contact measurement, easy installation, suitable for various liquids and harsh environments.
Radar liquid level sensor
Principle: use the reflection principle of electromagnetic waves (usually microwaves) to measure the liquid level.
Features: high measurement accuracy, suitable for high temperature, high pressure, highly corrosive environment and large range
measurement.
Laser liquid level sensor
Principle: use the reflection or scattering of the laser beam to measure the liquid level.
Features: high precision, high stability, suitable for occasions requiring precise measurement.
3. Other types
Photoelectric liquid level sensor
Principle: use the reflection or refraction change of light at the interface between liquid and air to detect the liquid level.
Features: non-contact measurement, suitable for the measurement of transparent or translucent liquids.
Magnetostrictive liquid level sensor
Principle: use the magnetostrictive effect to measure the liquid level.
Features: high precision, high reliability, suitable for occasions requiring precise measurement.
Application fields
Water level sensors are widely used in water conservancy, environmental protection, food, medicine, chemical industry, petroleum
and other fields, such as water level monitoring and control of reservoirs, water towers, pools, wells, sewage treatment pools, chemical
reactors, oil storage tanks, etc.
There are many types of water level sensors, each with its own advantages and disadvantages. You should choose the appropriate
sensor type according to the specific application scenario and needs.
